
I am Jade. I am Mama to Oliver, Partner to Brendon and the Woman behind The Empowered Cook.
Am I The Empowered Cook? Hell, yes. And so are YOU. I am here to share my strategies with you – and to empower you to cook wholesome, homemade dinners for you and your family – every night of the week. I will show you how.
I have been many things in this life:
- a university student with a very limited budget (I was famous for a $3 grocery shop)
- a beer drinking live music fiend who wanted to be out the door in minimal time
- a full time working woman who was the primary food cook for her and her partner
- a full time carer for my Mum when she was fighting the cancer battle and as she slowly left this world for another
- a researcher for all things health and food related – an advocate for reducing processed food in my family
- a new Mama to a baby
- a stay at home Mama wondering how I could possibly spend any more hours with a bub snuggled into my chest
- And now: a full time working Mama.
I imagine your life has been similar to mine – a complex, different and wild ride to get you where you are today.
Aside from my family, food is the number one priority in our home. There is no larger contributor to our health, happiness and family time. We come together three times (or more!) a day to enjoy food as a family – and it needs to sustain us, fill our bellies and also bring us happiness and joy.
I won’t lie – it isn’t easy. Time is a precious thing – anything that takes me away from Oliver needs to be well worth it! And as my life has changed, so has my available time to cook and plan and feed my family.
There are no more hours of available time on a weeknight to whip up a fancy chef style meal that we eat while sipping a bottle of wine in the quiet of our apartment.
Now it is more like: I walk in the door to a velcro baby who needs a breastfeed, Brendon has a break for 5mins – then it’s time to tidy up and start dinner. I usually cook with Ollie on my back in my Tula, and dinner is more often than not something fast and easy. Yet still delicious!
And that brings me back to Who is The Empowered Cook…

That’s where The Empowered Cook comes in. I am passionate about building processes and strategies that help you find a better way. I can empower you to feed your family whatever way you want, using whatever recipes you want – I’ll simply show you the way.
I have such a good system in place now that we have a home-cooked meal every night of the week (apart from the odd pizza night). And it is made from scratch – we don’t eat processed food. Yes – we often eat from the freezer, but it is all still fresh, wholesome, healthy food.
